YEAR: 4 Feb 2023
PROBLEM STATEMENT: Most portfolio websites are congested with too much irrelevant information, poor user interface, wrong use of colours, inconsistency in their choices of font type and are difficult to navigate.
SOLUTION: We designed an easy-to-use portfolio website, we consider the user first and determine based on the information hierarchy, what information is to be displayed on the website, what value would they give out to the end users and what section of the website would serve as a portfolio showroom.
HOW WE ACHIEVE THIS: First, we conducted research, gather and define our finds, and pain point problems, sketch out a design (low fidelity) and create a high-fidelity (prototype), and lastly, we conducted Alpha testing.
The Design Process:
Research
Defining the problem
Ideating the solution
Prototype
Alpha testing
RESEARCH: Our first approach in identifying the pain point was to conduct an audit research technique on a common portfolio website we could find on the internet, our major focus was to create a portfolio website where clients/users can easily navigate through the pages of the website, find relevant information and see the list of product or service showcased on the portfolio section of the website.
DEFINING THE PROBLEM, PAIN POINT 1: irrelevant information related to the website niche, improper use of information architecture. PAIN POINT 2:Poor UI design and navigation.
IDEATE: With the primary goal of creating a user-friendly portfolio website in our mind, we decided to analyse these questions: 1. What kind of information should be displayed on a portfolio website? 2. What should a portfolio website look like and how can users easily navigate within its pages or sections of the website.
After analysing all these questions, we divided ourselves into groups or individuals based on members of the z product design 2 strength and weaknesses, we were assigned the responsibilities of coming up with a sketch, low fidelity wireframe and prototype of a portfolio website, which we all did.
LOW FIDELITY: We made three wireframe designs based on the project tasks.
HIGH FIDELITY: We designed the high-fidelity website portfolio using the Figma tool, 3 portfolio websites were required from each team, and we chose the best portfolio website design within the list of designs submitted by members of the z product design team 2.
Features: Our portfolio website was designed for the Home section, the About me section, the Work section, the Skills section and the Contact page section.
Alpha Testing: We tested the new features of the portfolio website within ourselves, and we are such that these new features will meet the user's needs.
CONCLUSION: It was an amazing experience designing a 3 Portfolio Website, It was a complex task, but I am pleased my team was able to deliver and make progress on their product design career, on behave of my team and I, we would love to thank Sidehustle for providing us with this platform to showcase our creativity.
